Molybdenum carbide has high fusing point and hardness, good thermal stability,mechanical stability, excellent corrosion resistance and other characteristics, can be used as coating material, also addition material in hard metals and grain refiner in alloys.
Molybdenum carbide has similar electronic structure and catalytic properties as precious Metal, like the catalytic activity of denitride,hydrogenolysis and isomerization. Molybdenum Carbide has much similar spaces with platinum family ,especially in hydrogenation activity, almost same as Pt, Pb, expecting to be a substitute for precious metals.
